programs of interest
At the school that I am associated with, agents must supply prospective students with TWO potwential programs of interest. This allows the student to choose, or compare several areas of study. If the prospective student does not wish to be presented with additional information concerning the second area of interest, at least he or she had the OPPORTUNITY to view an additional program.
This is “great avenue†for student because it allows them to have options. In some cases students are not sure what field they are looking for but by knowing all programs you can assist them.
I have spoken to quite a few people who state they are interested in our Medical Assisting program when really all they are interested in is the Phlebotomy portion of it. You should always make it very clear what your school has to offer so you do not misguide anyone.
Hi Veronica,
I think you have a good point. As reps we do our best to get to know the student before presenting potential program information. The better we get to know them the better we can tailor our presentation. However, if a student wanted to know about all the programs I would make certain they had all the information they needed. Good point!
Michael-offering two potential educational choices will absolutely allow the student to explore more and discuss his/her career goals. Often times an individual may hear a "program title" and think that us what they want, just to find out they were really misimformed.
Hi Michael,
This is a very interesting strategy. I think whether the school offers 2 programs or 4 or 6 the student should be exposed to all. That way the student is presented options and is not restricted to the minimal.
Furthermore, I think that if the student does not wish to be rpesented with any additional information than we should not present any. We always need to make sure we listen to and affirm our prospective student's wishes/concern's.
