Using social media for successful recruiting

I am a brand new Admissions Representative and was curious if anyone who is more seasoned has had measurable success in recruiting using social media. What specifically has worked for you?

I believe there are both pros and cons to advertising on social networks such as facebook. While a public page may receive a great number of likes, with recent changes to fb and their medium of advertising and promoting....students whom have previously liked the page, will not see any updates in their news feeds UNLESS they interact with a comment or a like every week or so.

However, I do agree to some extent that fb can be a good tool for advertising. As one's search engine and profile in their own pc or lap top is used...fb will put the appropriately relevant matching advertisement on the right side. Having that constant reminder to make a move on education, and not idling on social networks could be the right motivation to engage a prospective student!

I believe that following compliance is key. It is just another part of influencing someones behavior to help them to achieve better outcomes, and make better decision .I usually just have the Nike attitude and "just do it". I believe if I have to question if what i'm saying is right then its probably not right. I tend to just stick to the script and follow the rules.

I have seen advertisements on my Facebook page for the school that I work for. They do have ads through their own Facebook page. These ads would be regulated by the state, just as other ads would be. I think that social networking advertising can be successful (I have neevr seen any data on this) since our culture is so tied to social media. This is especially relevant to younger students, rathen then those returning mid-career for additional education.

As read in the testing materials you must be very careful on how you recruit for new students. Be sure to check with your supervisor for approved recruiment methods.

I am also a new admissions rep that is learning how to be more effective when enrolling students who have learned about our school through social media.
