Referrals

Other than asking potential students what are other creative ways to get referrals from already enrolled students

This works for campus admissions. What are some ideas you have as far as referral for Online Education?

One method I use is always listen to any conversations about school or college anywhere you go. Stores and malls are places where these discussions can start and a savy rep can join in.

Referrals are wonderful! We love hearing "my friend just finished taking classes there and loved it!". We tell potential students to bring a friend (or two) to the Career Nights or Industry nights that we offer and we also feel like just having a quality program will allow people to tell everyone they know and those students will continue to come back time and time again for CE.

Actually, even at graduation is a good time too...when there friends and family are in town and they see the school and all the excitement

I have a sign on my office wall for students to see when come in. It reads: MANY OF OUR MOST SUCCESSFUL STUDENTS DECIDED TO ATTEND NATIONAL COLLEGE AT THE RECOMMENDATION OF A FRIEND OR RELATIVE. THIS IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO DO THE SAME FOR SOMEONE YOU KNOW.WITH YOUR RECOMMENDATION WE CAN HELP TURN THEIR PROFESSIONAL DREAMS INTO A REALITY JUST LIKE YOUR'S.

At our school we did a referral contest the current students who referred the most reeped the benefits of having a pancake breakfast cooked and prepared by our agents

I think always being open and positive about your school, even when you are off the clock. Always Be Recruiting!!!

This is an excellent point!!

Asking for referrals strenghthens the appeal to the school

There are many creative ways to get referrals from enrolled students. The ways that have been effective for our institution has been classroom visits to check the students' progress and recieve feedback about their individual experiences. As the student is giving feedback and discussing how their lives have changed for the better is the best time to ask who else they know are in need of a change.
Another helpful tool is just engaging with the students in the hallways or during their lunch. When they realize you care about thier success, they will give names and you don't have to ask!

When current students are about to attend orientation we invite them to bring a guest with them either a strong support system or someone who is looking into school.

I believe once a student has enrolled and has had some time with the school itself is a good time to ask for a referral, usually the student would have told a friend or two about their experience so far.

During orientation I say “I know that everyone here what’s to help someone. But it’s not every day that you can donate blood, clothes or time to volunteer. This is your opportunity to help and change someone’s life for the better. Even if they’re interested in a program that we do not provide at our college I can defiantly point them in the writhe direction.”

I am in charge on enrolling High School students, so I tend to ask friends of students or have them bring a friend to their appointment. I also look for current students coming to class to see if since their start of classes they have thought of anyone else looking into school.

Keeping business cards on hand to hand out to potential students you meet when shopping, eating out or socializing are a great way to bring in business.

If you have a student who enjoys the classes, instructors, recruiting agent who started the process and they have a overall good feeling with the institution, I feel they will tell their friends about the institution and I, as their agent, will get some referrals. And the institution will got other prospects because they heard good things about our school.

I also like to have them bring a friend, that way they can see what really goes on at the school that their friend is at.

We always ask students during orientation...
Who do you know that:
Needs More $$
Hates their present job
Needs to update their skills
Is unemployed
Wants to change their life

We pass out a sheet of paper with this on it and it really makes them sit there and think about all of the people in their life who really do need a change!

Set up a table at orientation with some food and ask for referrals there.
