Staying up to date and compliant
It's important that an agent continues to keep themselves updated on all aspects of the admissions processes, rules and regulations. It's also important that an agent is up to date on other aspects of the school. Using the different departments and publications relating to your school is a good way to stay updated. Being up to date is also a good way to make sure an agent is compliant, which is so important when working in admissions.
I couldnt agree with you more. The more information you keep up to date with, the easier it is for the agent to give that information to the student. It also makes the agent sound like they know what they are talking about and will have an easier time with building rapport with the future student.
This is a good point that Sheila has brought up. It is the best way to not only keep your job, but to perform your job to the best of your abilities. Being familiar with processes, rules and regulations is imperative as you work with students on continuuing their education.
What is the one most effective way to stay up to date in your opinion?
I agree that observing and interacting with other departments improves our ability to stay compliant. This further knowledge can also help to build credibility with a prospective student, who will have questions about the entire school experience including Student Affairs and Career Services. Although we always refer students to the experts, it helps to have a fundamental knowledge of what the offer and their procedures.
This is something that is definately important during any presentation you want to be updated on material and know what you are talking about.
I agree with your post Sheila! It is very important for reps to stay up to date on all information and changes within the school. In order to stay up to date I plan on speaking with my supervisior (or a weekly meeting) where she can update me on any changes as well as continue to monitor the school myself to recognize any changes.
It is very important to stay up-to-date. If you do not stay up to date, then you will have a hard time having a quality conversation with your perspective student. This may cause you enrollment.
I've found it very helpful to sit in on meeting from other departments to help understand their compliance process. Having a better understand of the compliance process for more than just one program, helps to improve the student experience.
It's hard to talk to these people in person since I'm a zone b rep but emailing any questions is very helpful
It is crucial to remain compliant and keep educating yourself with the most recent information, policies, practices and regulations. Its best to provide the students with accurate imformation so that they can make an educated decision about their future. Being out of compliance jeopardizes the school's accreditation and existence, your future employment and the students diplomas/degrees, previous and present.
I totally agree. Lincoln has an exceptional record when it comes to being compliant. I would not want to tarnish our reputation or put myself in a position where I could lose my job
I agree it takes more then just an Admissions Rep to run a school, this is a process. I think each and every Rep should learn what their fellow employees do such as career services how's the placement rate going, If a student needs Counseling do we have a counselor on hand. what are all the new laws and regulations in their state. This way the students will never be misguided. Students look up to their Reps to guide them and to be honest with them. I feel just watching the video and all of the comments that I have read will make me a better Rep and also a better Future Student Coordinator.
I agree, staying up to date and compliant I must check with administrators in my school and refer to internal school documents like polices and procedures manuals, school catalogs, and enrollment agreements.
Agreed. Meetings and frequent traning between departments can help each other stay up-to-date. This is important as rules and regulations continue to change.
