Transfer of Credits

One thing that I initially found odd in this position at this institution was the rules about transferring credits. Though I thought it would be detrimental to the recruitment and admissions process to be so stingent in the transferability process, I now understand why it is important. I believe that it shows that this institution, as a career college, really values the courses it offers, the instructors, and the overall learning process. Knowing that from start to finish the academic future of the student is compiled in the best format, for their best success, really means a lot for the credit of the school.

I appreciate the reinforcement of the institution being a career college and and our objective is providing necessary work skills. I personally appreciate a different perspective I can use.

You bring up a great point. Although a lot of individuals may not like to hear that credits may not transfer, it is our job to inform them of this and prepare them. Also, like you said, it shows the value in a career college.

That is correct! the last think you want to do is promise and not deliver.
This also protects you legally.

In reference to my institution, I reply to student's questions regarding transfer credit with "we have an evaluation department that will officially evaluate your official college transcripts when they arrive. At that point then they will be able to tell you specifically if any classes may transfer and which ones.

When handling transfer of credit questions I choose to say this..

Will these credits transfer?

“We are a accredited college; however, the transfer of credit is always up to the receiving institution. Keep in mind that we were not designed to be transfer school, we were designed as a career college to give students the necessary skills to go directly to work.
