Would it be helpful to compare the skill-set the course will develop in a student to the list of requirements in a job posting in order to enhance the marketability of the program?
Clear expectations are important to becoming sucessful. Knowledge will help communicate what is needed to set clear expectations.
You are right we are hear to keep the student's best interest at heart. However, I feel that 95% of the students I speak with, education is the BEST option for them at this point in their life. If you have the mindset that every student you speak with is going to be going to school, combine that with your knowledge of your school and programs, your success is limitless. Students NEED us! It is our responsibility to be there for them and answer all their questions accuractely and sincerely.
I absolutely agree. We need to keep in mind that we are here for the best interest of the student. Giving correct and accurate information will help the student make wise decisions about their future.
I agree 100%. If the student does not have a clear understanding they will have a more difficult road to success. Admission reps can definitely help in the process of creating those expectations and getting as much information to the prospective students to assist them in making their decisions.
This training offered a suggestion to check with local employers about job descriptions and expectations, I think that is a great idea. Knowing what the "real world" description may consist of should allow a rep to help discover if a student has unrealistic expectations. Maybe the student is going by hear-say instead of first hand information.
I think it is best for the students to set clear expectations so they can make an informed decision about their education.
