Helping our students

The best way to help our students is to be involved; meaning understanding other areas such as marketing, student services, and financial aid. Without this knowledge we will not be able to serve our students in the capacity which is needed.

I agree that learning as much as possible about the institution and the different departments is important to better help and guide the prospective students and students.

I feel understanding the student by asking key questions and trying to understand their needs is the best way to help our students.

Product knowledge is key to enjoying your job!

The more you know, the more confidence you exude, and it's likely you're productivity will increase. Also, being an expert in your field allows others to use you as a wealth of knowledge when any questions/concerns arise or to assist with any student-centered questions/concerns.

Familiarizing oneself with other departments, without questions, is vital to your mental health as well as your knowledge of school policies/procedures. Interacting with other departments keeps you visible while also maintaining a profession relationship that can be extremely important when it comes to professional productivity.

Agreed. You should be able to answer any questions the student might have, even if it is out of your area of knowledge.

I definitely agree with all that has been said thus far, also though i feel it is important to get a little more communication with any support centers a campus may have. Knowing what concerns a student brought forth during the initial call could potentially help build trust with the student especially so they wouldnt have to repeat themselves all over again.

Agreed. It is important to build a repport because this is a huge decision the student is making in their life. The more involved you are with a student the more comfortable and trust they build for you.

I agree because having the right career match is important to helping students and leading them into the right career field.

Being out in the community and active with our community leaders can give us a great understanding of what employers need and what the students need from our institutions. change is always happening and we need to stay connected and have a good understanding of what our students need. Being able to provide resources for other life challenges is something that I also feel is also important.

I believe that should be the most exciting part of our job! It is all about knowing the programs and what the students find important to their career choice! They will have a lot of information thrown at them already and any help that we can give them in reguards to help them succeed in their career is very important!

I think we need to understand the students needs uncover what is important to them. Then make sure they are enrolled in the right field that will make them successful and we are only able to do this if we know the proper information.

I completely agree. Knowledge in these particular areas is vital to the students success as well as the school and the individual representatives success as well. Without the student's success, the school nor the representatives career can be successful either.

Understanding the marketing plan and translating that in layman's term to the student greater enhances the students ability to matriculate through classes with less difficulty. Student services empowers the student to understand and utilize the resources at his/her disposal. And financial aid is quintessential to the student's survival in the collegiate environment. He/she needs money to play this game and succeed in it as well.
