Unless the student has an extenuating cicumstance, the student should be advised to complete the term. This is where the student should be directed to academics where they can be advised specifically on their own situation. It does not look favorable for the student if they did not complete something that they started.

I feel that a transition in the middle would be impossible as the classes would have half their grades and they may not be covering the same materials or using the same teaching techniques. This would not be fair to assess the students performance. It would not be fair academically to other students wither if someone joined class with a grade better than theirs because her course work was not as touch as theirs was.
