Accreditation and Compliance

Continual training and workshops seems to be the key to ensure that faculty and staff adhere to state, federal and local guidelines to disseminate infomation to students and prospective students regarding the accreditation process.

It does on fact add to the integrity of the Insitutions when representitives are open and honest with all prospective students. In addition this helps to lend an added air of credibility to the said reprentitives.

I find it much easier to let the students know that I will find the correct answer to a question rather than misinform. This helps build the trust with the students as well.

With all the different rules and compliance laws, we need to keep updated. Having workshops and on- line information makes it easier to keep up with all the changes. i have found that many states do not require Admissions dept to keep up with the rules. This hurts all the system.

Here at our school we've been having 'All Hands on Deck' meetings recently to bring everyone together and make sure we are all on the same page. Our Core Values are hanging on the wall in 3 locations and we often have 'role playing' sessions to ensure we are being compliant. And each colleague tries to look out for compliance issues and help each other whenever necessary.

I also agree most students don't understand what accreditation is and it is important that we give them them the correct information based on what is accreditation. I feel that it important they each campus have metting so that we know what to tell our students.

I agree. We represent our institution and must be prepared to answer questions truthfully. If we do not know the answer, we should refer the question to someone who can.

i strongly agree with this. Even for a seasoned staff member, it is always to good to review old information, and keep up with any new guidelines so we can always inform our prospective students all the current , and accurate information.

Accreditation seems to be such an important part of making sure we are always doing what is in the best interest of the student

I totally agree. We participate in weekly meetings to discuss changes and compliance so we all correctly perform with integrity.

Yes, you must always stay up-to-date through training and workshops. It will provide better customer service to the studnet if your information is on track with all quidelines. Always think of the student as a family member. Would you want your little sister to get false information from a prospective school?

I agree. A representative of a college/university must understand the guidelines and be familiar with accreditation. As a high school presenter, I have the opportunity to talk to students every day. Many of them do not know what accreditation is and how it will affect them. That is why it is important that we school and educate everyone interested in looking into furthering their education, so they can make an informed decision.

Agreed. Also, the accreditation of a college/university is a topic I've found many students entering college are not familiar with. They assume all colleges are accredited.
