Accreditation and Employment

Do some companies really deem you unqualified if you have graduated from an unaccredited school?

In my experience, absolutely! Especially if the students are leaving with some sort of liscensure or certification. In my previous experience, it was important to know people were coming from accredited institutions because there are so many sectors of higher education right now with different accrediting bodies.

I would think it depends on how big the company is. I have hospitals or huge physican groups here that are actually dictating what certifications they would accept from employees, ie CMA vs RMA, CPC vs another, etc. The difficult part is some of these testing agencies such as AAMA only accept test applicants from schools that are accredited with certain accrediting agencies. It's frustrating.
