Recruitment

Which method of recruitment do you feel is the most effective?

In s face to face interaction you can read body language.

As reps, we try to treat the prospective student as we would like to be treated. Our approach, typically, is to speak with the prospective student about their own personal career goals and then speak to those needs with the program/programs my school offers that will meet their career needs.

Both direct and indirect marketing and recruitment are valuable and equally important. Different outreach teams have different strengths, therefore each team should have all bases covered. I also have learned that qualified leads/prospects are more apt to talk with you more comfortably after meeting you in person if you had the opportunity to do so. Then, they are aware that you know your facts about the school and are willing to go the extra mile and assist them.

I think it's important to connect with all sorts of potential students, and that requires all sorts of prospecting towards students. For example, a younger student will be more tech savvy; thus much more receptive to online recruiting. On the other hand, an older person may be more comfortable with face-to-face interaction.

I believe that you must use all types to capture your audience. But, we all have one method that works best for us and of course we tend to rely on that one more then the others. And, that's okay, go for it, I say.

I agree it is effective. Working for my company for 8 years I have seen how trends on recruitment have had to keep up with online and technology to have a presence. I believe also face to face has been effective. I think it's key to have a balance of all of those methods to be sucessful.

Even though it's always nice to recruit via current students, i feel better with face to face encounters. I'm confident that i would be able to provide the neccessary information, answer questions, overcome objections, etc, better than anyone else or printed media. Remebering that the Propective Student makes their decision base on the information you provide, and the manner that you provide it. But they also make their decision base on you, and your sincerety, appeal, soforth.

I agree. We do face to face interviews. This gives the potential student the chance to ask questions and find out if the school is a good fit for them.

I feel that Face-to-Face recruiting is most effective. Grocery store, restaurant, ect.

Mt vast experience is the use of the telephone and setting the appointment and inviting them in and then finish the sales job.

As an Admission's Counselor, I try to treat the prospective student as I'd like to be treated. My approach, typically, is to speak with the prospective student about their own personal career goals and then speak to those needs with the program/programs my school offers that will meet their career needs.

I have never done face to face method, so I really have no way of comparing the two, however online recruitment seems to be the trend, as well as online training seems to be the trend with most employers.

...and one way to make these face to face meetings more effective is by using a presentational format that is not only informative, but also gives the student some insight as to what a life in a particular career may or may NOT look like. Too often students tune out the textbook "information" sessions. In certain areas of study they also want to understand what potential outlets or career oppotunities may be availble.

I agree. I think it's most important to get students in front of you, but you have to find a way to get them in the door first. Almost everyone has an online presence and getting your school's name out there is a must. But referrals will always be the easiest and most effective way of getting new/serious students to enroll and graduate!

I believe the best form of recruitment is what I do. As a high school rep I get infront of students while they are in the process of dedciding which colloge to go to. This is great way to plant the seeds for student recruitment.

Although I think face to face is a good form of recruitment, I think online recruiment is a growing trend. It is becoming much more valuable, and usually people who look up a school are generally already interested.

face to face interviewing, that way you get a chance to really see the excitment on the potential student's faces when you get to their program of interest.
