GRADUATION AND PLACEMENT RATES
I strongly believe it is a good idea to go over the graduation and placement rates. I know of schools where that information is never discussed. This is unfortunate because it doesn't allow the prospective student to make informed decision.
I agree that this information should not be only discussed in detail but also displayed on the website and be signed off on during the enrollment process.
I totally agree. An emotional connection with a certain school definitely has an impact, but facts should over ride the emotional connection. So getting important information such as graduation rates, is extremely important, and can be the deciding factor for a student.
discussing graduation and placements rates is very important because alot of school are not able to offer this speaialized service that National College can. students want to know that others are working in the field they went to school and graduated in.
Our school has a web link that provides all the graduation and placement rates. With this tool, there is no guessing or chance of misrepresentation.
For me, if the program I discussed met his/her needs, the tour and meeting staff/students, financial aid meeting, the disclosures justify everything up to the act of enrollment. Its the icing on the cake!
Besides providing placement rates, I always give the student a web address that has the most up to date information.
I understand and agree that this information is important, and I wish that ALL institutions had to disclose it. Several major state run and funded institutions have a return rate of less than 50% between freshman and sophomore years... parents should be told this before their kids are enrolled and the money starts being paid.
I agree strongly about providing students with graduation and placement rates. If students are aware of the possiblities after graduation, it allows for them to make an informed decision. The decision however won't just be based upon the student's initial adrenaline of getting into school. He/She will have facts in front of them that will provide motivation and goals.
At our school the prospective student is provided the information, then signs an acknowledgement (as part of the application process).
