Recruitment
I think that it is important to know the students that actively looking to obtain a higher education. Some students are not looking to go back to school or some reps are encouraging them to just enroll in a program that is not going to benefit them in the future.
ShaMeka, I do agree. Some students do need a "push". To us it may seem that we are being a bit overbearing or trying to hard, but to the students we may look like a person who believes in them and genuinely cares.
Yes, I agree. School is not for everyone and there are many people who make a living without having gone to school. But helping others make an informed decision is important. You could be helping them to make an important step in their lives.
If you force, convience, persuade, etc. someone to do what they are not committed to results in quit now or quit later.
I agree that they should not feel pressured, but there are some people who do not know what direction to go in and need a little push. It is definitely not a great practice to force school upon someone, however you can help them make the best decision for them. Persistence is not always bad.
Demitrea,
Your is so true. It is important that students want to go to school. They should not feel pressured to obtain an education that they do not want.
