Default

Being in this business for close to 10 years now, I have seen an enormous surge in students attempting to enroll in school that have student loans in default. Let alone, having attended several schools and not complete their program of study. More needs to be done in advance to prevent students from getting in default. It would benefit them to have more knowledge about the options they have in managing their student loans.

I completely agree with you. The students may need to be provided with more information on this to make them aware.

I agree. Lot's of students don't understand that being in default will not allow them to receive further funding for schooling. Sometimes they act surprised and other times they know, but hope we wouldn't find out. Lot's of students " school hop", and when they decide to get serious about schooling they have to back track to get things worked out.

I agree in this area, some say that prevention of this should be taught at the beginning of the enrollment process, I somewhat think it should be introduced then but more implemented towards graduation. Maybe even a gen ed or a extra-curricular class that can be taken to cause awareness as well as loyalty and responsibility to the institution they received their degree from. This will prevent the jumps from school to school and generally that happens because the student isn't happy with the school's services such as interactions and rapport and or the fact they heard another school was cheaper with incentives. These school's with incentives are causing so many problems promising computers for free and what not that students are hurt and the best/worst type of marketing is word of mouth.
