Do not call
Often times a student does not know if they are on the DNC list and gives incorrect information. Whose fault would that be?
I agree with written documentation a this covers you.
i completely agree this should be done right away so it isnt forgotten and call again later because you forgot to document information.
i agree with this, the quicker you can talk to them, the better. Also some parents may not like us contacting their child. I have had this come up.
The student should know, but we should be checking the Do Not Call list to make sure that they are not on it. If the student has given written permission to call, I think it should be alright to call.
I agree. When i visit a school and talk with students, they fill out a card. Next to the phone number we ask if OK to contact. This gives us 3 months of contact. Alot of times schools will call old information even though time limits have expired.
The prospective student's knowledge or lack of knowledge regarding their inclusion on the "Do Not Call List" is irrelevant to the institutions ability to call. It is the institutions obligation to know who is on the registry and to refrain from calling those individuals included on the registry. The second portion of the topic is unclear. Are you suggesting that the person desires to be on the registry but provided incorrect information and now the student gets calls because they have a wrong phone number listed on the registry inclusion request? If that is the case then the accuracy of the information is the responsibility of the registrant. if their number has been changed it is also the registrants job to update the registry with the new information.
The signed permission as an employee would make me feel better about contacting a student--especially with the DO not Call lists regulations.
I believe that the student is going to be at fault in this situation. It is up to the student to communicate this to the recruiter when they are contacted and allow the expected time to complete the removal of the name from the contact list. Once this happens, the school should update imidiately to keep from hounding the student.
Best practice would be to act immediately once requested by student.
I feel the correct way is to always to have a permission form from the student. That way it can be document immeditately than when we receive a DNC it will not slip through the cracks. Very important to have a system in place so that it can keep up with that.
Always best practice to have permission to call. We document immeditately if we receive a DNC so they do not slip through the cracks. Very important to have a system in place that is adhered to
I'd say that them not knowing is their fault, but that doesn't mean we are not still expected to find out before calling them. That is why we request signed permission with any written inquiry. That eliminates the risk.
That is why it is still best practice to have written documentation showing that the student gives permission to call.
