Being compliant means that you simply follow the rules of your job description. However, having a culture of compliance means every person within the organization is on the same page from the people who run the place to the people who clean up.

Candice,

Thanks, you're right, doing the right thing should be the norm, not the exception, in a culture of compliance.

DENISE,

This is an excellent approach. A compliance culture is based on employees choosing, based on ethical considerations, to do the right thing, not just follow the rules. The rules are simply a foundation. Thanks!

When there is a culture of compliance “doing the right thing” is often easier. You know that you will have the backing of administration. Also, doing the right thing is the norm.

When we are compliant, we follow the rules. Having a cultural compliance-can be referred to as ethical decision- it is a CHOICE, of doing what is right based on the the rules.

Being compliant, I follow the rules/guidelines as they pertain to me, the faculty. A culture of compliance means that all departments of the school (not just faculty) follow the same rules/guidelines across the board. It is about doing the right thing for the student.
