The Ohio State Board

The Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools is responsible for ensuring that schools comply with standards set by state law. What do you think are some specific areas of focus in the regulations?

FERPA Retention,Placement

I would say: placement rates, graduation rates and faculty qualifications to name a few

Student retention and placement are of important value at this level, as are, Faculty Compliance. You don't want someone who isn't properly certified/licensed teaching students. Accreditation standards are always a must as well.

I think retention, placement/graduation rates, and a measure of pass/fail for the licensing exams are the main focuses of state law.

Curriculum, teacher qualifications, assessment procedures, compliance...just to name a few.

Enrollment,faculty qualifications,
graduation rates, and Placement

Some of the specific areas can be looked at in four steps: 1)requirements for enrollment- so students and the school know where the student stands before they even start classes; 2)requirements for academic progress- so students at least meet the minimum academic standards; 3) requirements for qualified faculty- so students can learn what is needed to enter the workforce in their field of study, and 4) graduation and placement rates- so students are aware of how successful the school's graduates are able to find suitable employment.

Student retention, placement upon graduation.

Margaret,

Thanks for these references! All are areas of crucial importance and must be accurate, documentable and fully disclosed to ensure that students are completely informed about their educational choices or options.

Jay Hollowell

I would say grad rates, instructor qualifications, grad placement rates, and retention.

The Ohio State Board is responsible for ensuring that the students' investments into their education are all met. This includes job placement in the studied field, retention, faculty requirements including continuing education, and student records.

Specific areas of focus in the regulations, according Chapter 3332: Career colleges and schools in the ORC, are:
Certificate of registration - program authorization, Student satisfaction surveys, fees, Student tuition recovery authority, Military leave of absence for student on active duty, etc.

Some specifics areas of focus are attendance/retention, placement, and graduation rates, among some other areas that are regulated.

Anything that can indicate that the student did not get when s/he paid for: placement, retention, grad rates, pass rates, if a test is necessary to work in the field.

Job placement, graduation rates, disclosure of tuition and fees, and faculty qualifications are just a few areas of focus.

Placement, graduation rates, faculty qualifications, retention rates, to name a few.

Placement and retention is very important. If the college is not producing quality employers than the school no longer functions properly. Also, Student complaints I feel should not get left un noticed. Complaints can really shed light on a problem with the faculty, admissions, and school structure, etc.

Faculty qualifications, Student Retention, Program Completion, Certification and/or licensure if required and Placement.

Based on students outcome of job placement and certification after completion of a program an area of focus such as core curriculum in job preparation may be based on these outcomes.
