Why Soft Skills | Origin: LC130

This is a general discussion forum for the following learning topic:

Developing Soft Skills in CTE  --> Why Soft Skills

In what ways will reminding teachers about why soft skills are important impact teaching and student success? Take a few minutes to post your response and learn more from your peers.

Communicating the "why" involves developing and communicating a vision and rationale. Cear vision and rationale are important for driving any mission.

I think that teachers spend most of their time trying to teach the technical skills that we sometimes forget that the soft skills are just as important. These skills are going to help the student get and keep the job because we know that we are teaching them the skills that they need to do the job.

Reminding teachers and staff about the importance of why learning soft skills is important will allow everyone to get to their own 'WHY' of being in the business of helping students be successful in life after high school!

No soft skills can equal lack of opportunity to display the necessary content skills that a student has. Soft skills can get you "noticed" more effectively than content skills at times.

Beginning with the WHY is important to make sure students and adults understand the purpose of softskills and the role that the soft skills play in helping them be more productive in teh workforce and classroom.

By incorporating soft skills into curriculum, students will become advocates of their education. Teachers will learn and grow within theirselves as well.

The importance of soft skills vs. content knowledge; skills necessary for remote enironments; how 'Why' impacts what we do.

I will focus in reinforcing skills for remote staff and discussing the 'why' of our mission and vision
