Our tours consist of showing labs and introducing them to our program directors. The librarian also gives them a tour of her own and assures them that she is always available to help. One thing I can change is actually providing them with program directors contact *all the time* so that the prospect feels more interested.

I will start my change by taking more time in showcasing our features and benefits and addressing them to their needs as discussed during our interview. I feel that interacting with them more and introducing them as well as showcasing the program of interest will help them make a better educated decision.

Troy, Thank you for all your posts. This is a great experience for someone that needs to feel it to believe it.
Elizabeth Wheeler

Maybe have the student view a class currently in session.

Thank you for your insightful posts, Theodore. You hit the nail on the head with your tactics on the phone with the telephone interview. Nicely done, as well, with the tour. "Painting a picture" is great for those that are truly visual learners. What if you have a student that is more auditory (needs to hear it to believe it), or kinesthetic (needs to touch it/experience it to learn it)? How do you inform them of the student-customer experience and resources?
Dr. Jean Norris

My school does not have a campus, but we have to rely on the dissemination of a large amount of information regarding the attributes of our school and convert them to benefits for our student-prospects. I like to "paint a mental picture" of what our student-customers experience and the resources available to them in their time with us.

I like to be aware of any events taking place on campus during the time of the tour. I will then ask if a student is interested in learning more about / visiting the event to help the prospective student gain an understanding of campus life.

Tammy, Those are great ideas. How does talking to these individuals help to make a memorable tour?
Dr. Jean Norris

stop and talk to staff and current students

Nikeline, Interesting! How do you know this is a memorable part of the tour for the student?
Dr. Jean Norris

I actually ht observe class in session for as long as they like, or a lab.

Ana, Interesting is always good. How do you know the student wants to see the career services manager?
Dr. Jean Norris

I usually take them to the career services manager to speak to the students about careers, jobs, student comitee activities and make it more interesting.

Julie, Bringing in others on your tour to make it more interactive is great. It's always important to make sure others you bring in on the tour are prepared. How do you prepare the students that aid you on the tour?
Dr. Jean Norris

I've added in talking with students, more teachers, etc. My students love to help me recruit so it excites them to be a part of the tour.

That's a great idea, Maria. How will introducing the staff positively effect your tour?
Dr. Jean Norris

INTRODUCING THE STAFF AND DOING THE TOUR

ANA, It is a great idea. What would you put in your video, and how would you implement it on campus?
Dr. Jean Norris

I think this is a great idea

Christopher,
Thank you for sharing this idea. Allowing the student to place him/herself in the classroom can be really beneficial. How do you think this relates to VAK?
