Henry,
Great awareness of your team. How specifically will you have more honest discussions?

Dr. Jean Norris

I will have more honest discussions. Sometimes I get angry when I see the discussion turning negative but really its folks expressing there opinion.

Emily,
That sounds like a great addition. What successes have you personally seen from this new model?

Dr. Jean Norris

A new collaboration principle that is being implemented not only with our team but our school as a whole is celebrating success/working on failures as a whole. With two campuses we've recently started doing things together as ONE school as opposed to separately as two different campuses. This has really helped us grow us one big team.

I want to cllaborate with my team and will try harder to brainstorm first time together to do this is an issue so I will figure out a way to make time.

It sounds like you have a good approach for your training plan with coaching, role playing and continuing education. What can you do to integrate team collaboration into your plan?

It is going to take some planning, coaching and continuing education to effectively train the team as I have a relatively large team. I plan on role playing with them as well so I make sure they understand. I beleive this will need to be incorporated into thier training from the moment they are hired so they become conditioned.

All that you mention are great team collaboration techniques. What can you do to incorporate these technique into the meetings with which you are involved?

working together on solution, instead of accusing or blaming a department. Also brain storming before decision making, then share idea's with the team, then work together on a positive resolve.

Geoffrey,
That's good news. A sense of team is so important. It must make it nice to come to work, huh?

Dr. Jean Norris

Due to our small size and true sense of team, we actually are in pretty decent shape in this category, both departmentally and campus wide. Always room to improve of course...

Erica,
This sounds like an effective strategy. How much time do you allow before a decision has to be made however?

Dr. Jean Norris

I will begin by suggesting that we have more brainstorming sessions and discussions before coming up with a solution to a problem. I find it important to have people voice their mind to achieve a common goal.

What I want to do is to make sure that I am maintaining constructive relationships with my team. This is so important as it relates to team continuity. Respect for the individual, their ideas and perspectives witll be the way that I will utilize this with my team and my colleagues.

1. Meeting with all the deparments
2. Evaluate their procedures
3. Evaluate each deparment and their conflicts with other deparments
4. Find alternatives to revise real issues
5. Real outcomes and solutions

It looks like you recognize the diversity of your campus and the benefits that can offer when collaborating. It sounds like the deparments at your school along with the students work hard to ensure everyone has a part to play in collaborating for student success.

Our school is very diverse, colloaboration starts with the teachers for they know what it takes to
bring about learning and understanding and a desire to teach. we also have monthly staff meeting to address the need of the staff and the students. we incorporate activities, reports, library search, resume, ect. having the students to present what they research and learned before the class this give the teacher a chance to hear them speak and to see if they understand also it make them feel good about themselves. Incorporating and colloborating with other outside agencies for clinical practice, in a nursing home or hospital helps them gain hands on experience as well as classroom this invision why they are here, and that is to be educated in the Health Care Industry.

Thanks for sharing Elizabeth. I like both of your statements here. What are your plans to incorporate constant communication with your team?

Constant communication is key! Giving and being able to take feedback.

Ashley, that is a great point. What are your next steps now in order to make sure these meetings are put into place?
