How would you make your team stronger?

The more you include your team in important decisions the more I have noticed they step up and want to impress. The more we work on projects together the better we work together.

Exactly, Amy! Open communication is key. Thank you for sharing.

Dr. Jean Norris

I believe that as an instructor, we need to make sure we are a united team. Not just for us as the team, but for the students as well. We need to make sure we have open communication between each other about each other and for the students. Having a open discussion on everything is imperative in my opinion.

Jorge, Building that rapport can really help a student open up! Nicely done.
Dr. Jean Norris

I think is important to get a conversation and ask questions, to start the conversation, help. The person feel that you are interest in they and create a good atmosphere to start which makes your relationship stronger.

Mike, Do you feel there is room for improvement with your teamwork? What can you do to improve?
Elizabeth Wheeler

I would rather not think about how I come across, I would not want to participate at all if I did!

Our team tends to be very rigid, there is no lets just do it. I would remove all the regulations we have and let people be more free to express themselves.

Thank you for all your posts, Beatriz! We welcome you to the forum! Great awareness on your behalf with generational type. Many times we can cross over, especially because "times" call for change. By having multiple modes of communication across many generational types, you open yourself to being able to reach more people.
Leading by example is always a great way to reach and lead your team. In this day in age, everyone has to roll their sleeves up and do the work, which helps to create a cohesive work environment.

Dr. Jean Norris

everything begins with you and your example your team will follow.

James, Again, well said. Thank you for posting!
Elizabeth Wheeler

Simple, address everyone's strengths and weaknesses. Give credit for the strengths and work openly and honestly with their weaknesses. Measure progress and reward improvement.

Grace, Insightful theory on leadership! How has your group of leaders come along?
Dr. Jean Norris

If you develop yourself as a strong leader, you would attract others who are strong to join your team, and those who are already members of your team, to respect you, thus giving you the opportunity to develop them into better leaders (Magnetism theory). I have been working on instituting a group of leaders first by using the noun 'leaders' as opposed to members or reps or employees when speaking to the group.I believe embracing the word is the beginning to create your strong inner circle of leaders.

Nikeline, We would agree. It is important that your team follows the lead. What happens if the team is not following the tone you set?
Dr. Jean Norris

Again, you set the tone and pace for your team. You lead by example. It begins with you first.

Lillian, great idea! What specific activities would you do with your team involving the diagram?
Dr. Jean Norris

I would make my team stronger by using the diagram shown in this module, its a great tool to match roles strengths & weaknesses

These are all really great examples, Julie. I'm curious, what are the steps you take to get to know other staff members and build that relationship specifically?
