Julie, Social media is a great source of marketing! Your suggestion of making it easier to find things on your website is a great idea. How do you propose to get that started?

We have an amazing website that we work very hard to keep updated. However, I would make it easier to locate our online handbook and disclaimer information.
Our online media also incorporates twitter, facebook, pinterest, instragram and all other social media outlets. This is also something we work very hard it. We post pictures of what our students are doing on a daily basis and use this for press releases (its FREE. It provides media awareness to current and potential students to see what is going on at our school. It also helps us keep up with our graduates and post information that students need to be aware of.
Edwina ,
It is very true to always keep your things up-to-date! Great idea. Thank you for sharing!

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is an online marketing tactic that’s been working for Web sites for well over 10 years. Wikipedia states "It is the process of affecting the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine's "natural" or unpaid ("organic") search results." In general, the higher ranked on the search results page and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine's users. While a school can pay a consultant thousands of dollars to do SEO, there are less expensive books and software out there that a digitally-savvy school staff member can utilize to achieve the same or better results.
Michael, that's a great idea. Please let us know how that works for your school.

I like the idea of a faculty blog. I think that could be useful in the the recruitment of new students. We have been building our presence on Facebook and it has been a valuable tool.
Mark,
Yes. Today's students would appreciate the ease of navigation and providing information in the way they want to receive it.

I need to make the information more clear and concise, and the site easily navigable, and keeping in mind that it needs to be content-rich with all the information that a prospective student might be looking for.
By keeping the site relevent. Also by making it easy to navigate. Many organization have important information hidden within their sites. You should not have to click on multiple tabs, to get to critical information about the organization. The site should also be interactive.
As we move into more social media institutional communications, I believe that user-generated content from students and faculty will require specialized "Interactive Social Media Content Managers" to be hired to carefully handle demand.
Connie,
This is great awareness. It sounds like you have some interesting ideas to get the word out about your school. I'd love to hear how it goes with your video. Glad to hear that you've also found some of the ideas in this course helpful.

Online advertising is the primary way for my school to attract potential students. I've learned from this course that I need to add student testimonials. I can see the importance of this. It will give my school credibility. I would also like to add an online video of me speaking to potential students that visit the site. They would be able to put a face to the school and would be able to see the passion I have for teaching the program.
Great idea. I love your use of technology here too. I think current and prospective students would appreciate that.
I think it is important to focus on the experts in the field and current/future trends when working for a niche school. This can can be by way of podcasts, soundbites, faculty blogs, twitter and facebook to name a few. This way prospective students can gain insight into the future with the degree.
