Building Your Media Kit
What information would you include in your media kit and why?
Sizzle reels, social media hits, video testimonials. Keeping the media kit interactive is extremely important in today's society.
I would emphasis we have been in our local community for over 80 years. This helps prospective students know we are not a school that has just appeared and may not be in business in the future.
I work for a trade school and for us I believe a valuable thing to include in our media kit is our job placement rating. It is pretty high considering the industry that we are in and I think students would respond positively to that.
Information on key staff members can really set you apart from competitors.
Edwina ,
Excellent! All of those are great things to have in your media kit. It is so important for your goals and values to align, and it truly makes an impact on fit. Thank you for sharing!

I would certainly include our mission and goals as well as how we differ from other institutions. I feel it is important for our audience to know how we stand apart and the things that make us unique. Also when choosing to be affiliated with an organization for one reason or another being aware of their mission and goals helps to align them with your own to know if this is a perfect fit meaning you wouldn't want to partner with or attend an institution whose mission and goals you do not agree with.
Giovanni,
Good point! Thanks for adding this idea!

In addition to all the great contributions from everyone in the forum, it would be wise to include the school's Mission Statement (e.g. where is the school headed?, goals and any upcoming plans or changes to the school's curriculum that benefits prospect students or the community.
Great idea Higinia. Any information we can provide that increases credibility is helpful. Thank you for your ideas!

I think I would include information of the accreditation of the university. Many students who come to our institution have discover after completing a year that their school the attended was not accredited, and those credits are not recognized upon transfer to another institution, so I think this would be a good fact to included in the Media Kit, in addition to what have been listed.
That's awesome that you have successful alumni as testimonial to the success of your graduates! You're right on with the idea that sharing these stories can help students realize their potential success. Thank you for posting.
Our school has very successful alumni in our state and surrounding states, having alumni profiles or testimonials would be beneficial so students have an idea of the potential success that can be reached in our specialized industry.
Josh, sure thing. This will show your credibility as well as enhance your product knowledge so that you can communicate the features and benefits of the school.

I would include specific and positive information about the school which would include information on the school's history, program's offered, enrollment numbers, graduate work history and information on our board of directors.
I would also include a call to action as utilize online resources in social media with links to our website

Typical information in a media kit would include company history, Board of Directors, Staff, positive press releases, catalogs and company newsletters. Within the proprietary education business you must always keep in mind accreditation and DOE regulations to maintain compliance.
Always include a call to action that will motivate the recipient to get in touch with your company. Make it highly visible and keep up with competitors media kits to help gauge your proformance.
In todays market the use of the Internet is one of the most important tools in creating company image and branding. One need to utilize social media, blogs, website, video channels, etc. Management should continue learn developing trends and SEO management.
Hi Patricia!
It looks like your on the right track with incorporating elements that are likely to showcase your school in a positive light, as well as answer potential questions from students and the community at large. It also seems to be a great way for you to highlight your unique opportunities!
If you built your media kit to include these elements, how do you think your readers might respond to it?
