Does anyone feel one way they gain trust through their communication is through the way they actually portray information to the student?
I find it's a fine line with imparting information. Early in my career, I tended to believe imparting information was a credibility builder. In reality, imparting information was all too often a sop to my own ego.
I began to ask myself the following before 'imparting information':
"Is the information truly of interest to this person?"
The training here suggests the best way to do this, is to ask open Q's, repeat their words - or what I 'heard', to make sure the info is truly on target with the person's needs. If it is not on target, then it is probably best to NOT pass on the info.
Chris, That's a great point. How do you know you have gained the trust of student?
