Forming a Marketing/Publicity Committee

I just started a small private school. When looking for people to be a part of this committee...how do you recommend approaching them, what type of compensation do you offer, if you don't have deep pockets are there other ways to compensate?

Thanks so much Susan for your response. That makes great sense and now I have clear direction on the type of advisors to look for.

Hi Janis
Good question. Advisory committees are typically made up of people who have some stake in your school plus others who have certain expertise that you need. Advisors give advice and thus are not paid. We suggest having folks who represent students, staff, faculty, and people who employ your students. People from the community are good too. Make it easy for your advisors by sending agendas ahead of meetings, keeping meetings short, using email as a way of communicating and serving great food at the meetings! Good luck, Susan
