Promotional CDs
I'm not sure if our school is doing as much as we could be with Audio/Visual promotion. The idea of tapes/videos is really interesting. I'm thinking maybe putting together a CD that could be given away with the press kit, etc. We have some dynamic speakers in the college that could get people excited about what we offer. Is anyone else doing anything like that? How is it working?
Hi Jeff
Yes, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn and on and on are getting to be standard for many career schools. It's important to get everyone within the school talking about your school and encourage prospective students to "listen in" and find out more about the school - the good and the bad. It's also a way for you to find out what is working at your school and areas for change. Thanks, susan
This IS brilliant, it should have been SO obvious. Youtube?! Our campus uses radio and TV to reach potential students. I suspect Youtube could be QUITE effective. We don't have an advisory board. The decisions are made in house although we could be getting better results from a formal board. As far as the internet is concerned we have been getting excellent results from using Google Analytics to our advantage increasing traffic while reducing our bounce rate.
Hi Holli
You bring up a great marketing vehicle - YouTube and all the other social networking websites that are available. The goal is to see which are most appropriate for your students and the programs you offer. Thanks Susan
CDs are definitley a nice addition - we recently posted our commercials on YouTube and have already had hundreds of views.
HI Bruce. Thanks for sharing the information. The key to what your are saying is the importance of keeping of with technology. And particularly the current technology that your prospects are using. That includes social information management websites. Best wishes, Susan
We have considered putting together video/slide presentations which can be done on vscds and dvds. There are so many opportunities for duplicated video presentations. A larger school could purchase a DVD duplicator for Admissions/Academic/Training and other uses. We are getting close to the time when USB "Thumb Drives" with school logo and video information can be sent to high end prospects. I imagine some schools are doing that now. Nevertheless, it is cheaper to get a website hosted and have school info instantly available to any prospective student (if the have no computer there is always the public library, or, better yet, a friend).
HI Barbara
Audio Visual really encompasses a range of technology these days. Best to get experts to explain all your options. It's a lot more than CDs. There's streaming video, ways to use students to give testimonials, use UTube, MySpace, and more. Those folks under 30 can explain this better. Most important, figure out your target market. Then use technology and a plan that they relate to. Good luck, Susan
