Any Suggestion on how to reach Immigrant population

I am in Miami which is a melting pot of people from everywhere. Many of them are immigrants, my question now: have any of you used a system that is successful in targeting them?

Great ideas, Juan. You do want to promote your school where people are. Also plan a campaign where multiple activities are going on at the same time. Visits, newspaper ads, and more. Then your prospects will see announcements in several ways. That increases the likelihood that they will get interested. We also suggest you send news articles and releases to the neighborhood newspapers too. You can send notices about events at the school and also abuot your graduates. When grads complete training, send an announcement. If possible include a photo and some information about your school. Then post the newspaper around school. Thanks, Susan

I full-heartedly agree with going to where your target-clients live and gather for living activities.

Here in El Paso TX we visit and present at city-housing apartment complexes, hispanic-community schools, and participate in activities and events that attract our target audience.

We also advertise in the rinky-dinky neighborhood newspapers and newletters that tailor their news and activities of interest, to a particular neighborhood-community. Some of these local media outlets are in Spanish or in both English and Spanish.

Hi Vicky - Great ideas on how to reach various ethnic groups in the school's community. There are also houses of worship and community centers where different groups might meet. These are great places to ask to leave brochures and to speak to the directors to tell them about the opportunieis at your school. All this assumes that your school is set up to assist foreign students who need extra help with language and literacy skills, employment training, career decision making, and more. Good points. Thanks, Susan

Find out local events. The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce ussualy posted a newsletter. You could be added on their mailing lists to received it that is a easy way to find out what is happening in immigrant communities, specially the latin communitie in Miami.
Set up an open house and announce it on tv in the Calendar of event of all TV & cable latin stations like Univison, Telemundo, La Mega TV, etc. For other immigrant you can find if they have an Association in Miami ( The usually do, you can search via internet ). Contact them too.

Hi Jhonson, Very interesting question. Usually if you want to enroll a target market you go to where they are located and advertise in the media they read or view. It's the same whether the person is an immigrant, a downsized individual, etc. Go where they are. Tell them why your training will meet their needs, overcome barriers to attending and succeeding. Also focus on referrals. Have them bring their families to an interview. Good luck, Susan
