Community Programs
We have recently begun a professional development program at our facility. The staff enjoyed it despite the fact that it took place on a Sunday. We gave surveys to assess satisfaction and the scores were high. We also have career day at high schools, participate in health expos, and job fairs. Last year, we partook in a few blood drives and the turnout was not the best but it still helped a great cause. We also At least once a year we have a Blood Drive to help the shortage of blood in our community.Additionally, a food and clothing drive was held at our school to help a school in need. We would like to continue to develop professional development at our school and encourage club activity once the school grows.
Lauren,
This sounds great. Maybe you can turn these into Service Learning projects, which are a bit more formalized. People get experience in planning, running, and evaluating events. This is great for people who need an internship type program, want to add to their resume, or formalize their commitment and activities in the community. It's great for Alumni who may be out of work and need to beef up their credentials. All your programs could probably generate press before, during, and after. It is true that some programs may not do well in the beginning. Some may need some adjustment. Or some programs you just run - like blood banks, because it is a good thing to do. Thanks for sharing all this. Susan
