Preparing for Audits
When we are preparing for audits we are checking all accrediting bodies that approve our school to make sure that we are following the strictest rules and regulations. Our catelog states one thing but per the department of education they are stricter so we revise our catelog to match.
Our company strives to always ensure that our in house rules and regulations go above and beyond what is expected of us through our various governing bodies. This give us a certain level of comfort when expecting an outside audit.
I became an onsite evaluator for our accreditation organization 2 years before we had our site visit. I learned EVERYTHING I needed to know to obtain accreditation flawlessly. I listened, asked questions to my peer evaluators and obtained every bit of information to make my path easier.
Our college prepares students for professional placement. The health science department educates students in many specialized tracts(massage, nursing, PTA, OT, orthotics/prosthetics, polysonography, etc. Each tract must follow the guidelines of their accrediting body. These guidelines are almost always more specific than the educational guidelines but these are what each department is expected to follow.
Ashley,
Great point - using the strictest standards as your institutional policies when multiple authoritative bodies are involved is the best practice.
