Admissions

How has the admissions practices have changed since the FERPA Act?

Kenneth,
I hadn't thought of this perspective on boundaries with interview questions. It's always tough to balance privacy and risk of potential discrimination with the requirements for full disclosure and ensuring candidates have the potential to succeed in a program. Thanks for your insights.

At one time there were a myriad of questions that were asked of a prospective student during an interview. Upon reflection, many of these questions were very personal in nature and bordered on prying. Through the years, FERPA has caused us to be more mindful of boundaries when interviewing a prospect. It has resulted in a more comfortable situation all the way around for both the prospect and the admissions representative.
