I frequently refer to the policies and procedures regarding attendance policies, drug testing, and criteria for assessing student performance when on internship.

Program information is what I need most often. Attendance and code of conduct are also referred to frequently.

Admissions requirments and Educational cost and Financial aid

Sandra - your response demonstrates the myriad of information contained in the catalog! It's a great source of information throughout a student's program and for staff to refer to when working with students.

Excellent, Elizabeth! I am glad to see such frequent referencing back to the documented source of such policies!

Gail - I like your recommendation to have PD's review catalog policies at the start of each term. Students receive so much information at enrollment and these periodic refreshers can be useful to all!

Multiple sections are referenced on a daily basis because of the nature of my daily interactions. For example: A student may need to be reminded of the SAP policy or reminded of the maximum amount of absent days allowed in a term in class.

I also think it is very important as well!

Student Attendance Requirments and Dress code Violations.

Attendance, Dress code, length of programs

As a program director, I referred to the attendance, dress code, and conduct sections in the final review.
As a Nursing Education Specialist I recommend to the program directors that they should have the students bring the catalog to class at the beginning of each term in the program. These policies should be reviewed at the start of each term.

I use the catalog every single time I meet with a prospective student, I use a yellow highlighter to highlight what we will be discussing that day.
1. School information: history, mission statement and accreditation
2. Admissions: entrance and test requirements
3. Programs: specific information for the student based on what program they are interested in pursuing
4. Addendum to Catalog: faculty and staff
5. Start and End Dates
6. Tuition and Fees
I also tell the prospective student to make sure they read the rest of the Catalog!

My department is Career Services - I typically reach for our catalog to review course descriptions for our programs.

I use that portion as well. It amazes me of how they seem to forget he dresscode the longer they are here. The new students usually without argument abide by it but the ones who have been here the longest is the ones I have the most trouble with.

Transfer of credits and SAP. The receiving institution has the final say so if they will accept credits from the school. The SAP-Satisfactory Academic Progress policy require that students maintain an acceptable passing score of 70% for classes and cumulative GPA I have to advise students at times who are not meeeting the SAP requirement becasue of academic failure.

As an admissions rep, I discuss the years we have been in existence, our Admissions requirements, Student services availability, addendum to catalog (what this is and contains), academic info externship or clinicals and dress code, standards we go by (attendance, conduct, etc), Financial aide and, last but never least, the specific course description of the program they are taking. Most students wants to speak about scheduling as this is very important if they are holding a job. If I have a schedule from the program director, I discuss with the but always tell them it is a tentative schedule that normally goes as stated but there may be some minor changes along the way.

Being a Program Director the topics I use frequently are student attendance policy, dress code policy, and student conduct. I make sure to keep a catalog handy with these areas highlighted for quick access!

What classes are in each program

Our accreditation and our completion, pass, and placement rates. Also, our admissions requirements, student dress code and attendance policy.
