My institution uses two forms of exit counseling. The first is the financial aid/studenty loan aspect that shares vital information with students on the payback of their student loan debt. The 2nd portion is through the career counseling office and it includes valuable resources like resume writing, scheduling and holding interviews, etc. This process is extremely important for students to both understand the importance of repaying their student loans and also gaining employment.

Toni,

Having your school director so involved is very impressive. It sounds as if that all the bases are covered.

At our institution when a student is approaching graduation an appointment is made with the school director and the student to review their completion requirements and discuss and review tuition account and have the student complete an exit interview form, as well as again, reviewing the students obligation to the loans they have borrowed. In addition they discuss, satisfaction with the education they have recived, scheduling of state licensing examination and placement leads.

I do not work in Financial Aid, so I can't really speak to how we handle exit loan counseling.

Maria,

Exit counseling is so important to the student. While providing the video and administering the exam is important, the Q & A session solidifies understanding.
