Students with Disabilities
Students with disabilities can succeed. If given the help they need, some or more successful than those without disabilities. They have the passion to trive because they are succeeding inspite of the odds they face. Embracing them is the best thing to do, the results can be very rewarding.
Michael,
I'd have to agree with you. Sometimes some people (disabled or not) just want to give it their best shot.
Michael,
It's great that you seem to have a positive view of the potential of students with disabilities, and are appreciative of what you have observed from such students as perseverance and dedication. Just be careful not to fall into the trap of *expecting* that all students with disabilities will want to do things the hard way, and that those who ask for assistance are somehow less dedicated or deserving. As they say -- different strokes for different folks.

I agree too. I tend to see people that have those disabilities work a lot harder than other people to almost prove to themselves that this is possible to complete and they can do it. I've seen that sometimes its harder for them to ask questions though. They want to figure it out on their own.
Lydia,
I agree with your statement, Lydia. I am just a little surprised that YOU seem surprised that students with disabilities can be successful. Remember, they are more LIKE other students than they are different -- and all students come with a variety of talents and skills.
