Peer Mentorship

What is the best way to get your "best" students involved in mentoring other students.

I ask students that have been mentored to think about how much it meant to their own success in school and to then think about being a mentor and what they could contribute to another students success.

@Bugatti04 :We have a group of students who are interviewed by faculty to become peer mentors every year.  The students take pride in this position and really motivate and mentor those fellow students in need.

Ask the students if they would be interested in mentoring. From personal experience I found that when given the opportunity i was glad to do it. Another "selling" point is explain to the student how mentoring can help them enhance their own skills and knowledge. Being able to help others is a great skill that will cross over into being a professional.
