Credentials of your staff...must everyone be experienced?

What are your thougts...

Interesting point about the qualifications of the career services staff. Yes, we agree that staffing experience is important. And career services is important to teach resume writing, confidence building, and the job search process. And also the ability to network and do community outreach. Really quite a high-power position! Thanks, Susan

I do believe that those on your staff must have experience in education and staffing to some degree. We need to teach them how to look for work, how to in many cases write a resume, how to do job searches and if our staff doesn't know how or does not have the experience it is going to show in the out comes of our students. I feel very strong about people having the experience in order to do the job.

Good points Abbey. The more one knows about employment skills and job opportunities the more effective the job search will be. We think this means that students need to be required to complete career services projects and activities and work on these projects throughout their school career. We all need to focus on what will make the grad successful when seeking the right job. Thanks, Susan

I feel in order to be effective in placement you need to have exprienced and continue your education. There always more to learned in my industry so i tell my students never limit yourself to be average always strive to be the best you can be and the rest we work itself out.

Sounds like you need to refer to or create job descriptions for each person on staff. When you do that you'll also write up requirements as to experience and education. If you are going to hire staff and pay them then they need to have the skills and background to to the job. Their experience level will determine how much time you will spend to train them and closely supervise them. So what are your thoughts about that? Susan
