Need ideas for a one man show job placement department?

I work at a small post-secondary school, and I'm already on work overload. I now have to head up job placement as well. How much involvement could I expect from other staff memebers?

Jillian,
Great idea. Grads are soooo helpful in many ways. Grads can return as Alumni and assist in every area of the job search process. They can coach students, bring students to work, tell what it is really like on the job, and much more. Grads can introduce you to the hiring decision makers where they work so you learn about job openings, how your grads are doing, and changes in your programs that may be needed. Thanks, Susan

Andrea, I know it seems overwhelming, but faculty and program chairs are a great resource as well. Utilize them by assigning graduates who are still looking for work to each faculty member. They know the graduate as a student and their ability, and they should have contacts in the community to match the graduate with for possible job leads. It's a great way to help with placement! Good luck! Is there any resource your lacking in? Job leads? graduate contact?

Andrea,
It's challenge to be responsible for so many tasks. This points to developing an Alumni Community. Happy grads are happy to stay involved with their school. They are a great source of assistance and could be helping with preparing students for jobs, resume review, and they can tell you where the jobs are. Thanks, Susan
