Create a resume

Our Institution teach the students and graduates how to create their own resume with their profile and objetive, also we instructed them to make change to make their resume more individualized.

Our institution constructs a similar concept. We do; however, notice a slight difference with students who have had work experience vs those who just graduated high school with no employment history. Along the academic year, students with no employment history begin to build their confidence knowing our institute guides them to place them in a job for their program. We don't view this as 'hand holding,' it's more as 'real life guidance to the real world.'

Katie,
We think that many students need hand holding in a variety of ways. We also think they should be assisted in as many ways as possible with the goal of making them self sufficient. In addition to employment skills, many students need confidence. Confidence building takes time and attention. That's a reason we think that career services should be offered on day one. You might want to consider getting assistance from alumni. Graduates are often willing to volunteer their time to assist students. Sometimes you just have to ask. Thanks, Susan

We help students create resumes, but there are those few students that act like we need to 'hold their hands' and seem to want us to make them for them and also expect us to send our their applications and resumes, I even helped a student that expected me to call and check about the status of her application. Sitting down and letting the students know that we will help them but will not do it for them helped out a lot, that way it let them know that yes we are here for them to help them but also helped set boundaries. Helped out a lot.

Jany,
This is great. Please keep in mind that students and grads need many many skills to be successful job seekers. Resume writing is one of a dozen skills like interviewing, searching for the right job, setting appointments, dressing appropriately, follow up, thank you notes, and much more. Thanks, Susan
