One of the areas that I need to work on more is interacting with employers. If they come to the school to visit I'm fine, but I would like to go in the field more and visit them and introduce myself, however I'm a bit on the shy side and find this a hard thing to do.....any advice?
I was also very shy. When I started in my school my boss wanted me to go in to every class and welcome the students, introduce myself, hand out my business card. i was very nervous, but once I started doing it, I loved it and it made me more connected to the students. I think if you go into it with confidence you will be fine :-)
Missy,
Any one may pass advice, but the real question is "Will you take that advice and truly apply it?"
If you are able to work with students and staff members, then you are surely able go out in the field to meet with representatives. You are informing and assisting with students at your institute, so put that shyness aside and represent your school knowing you have great students to give them. Missy, break the cloud of shyness with confidence you hold within.
