Prepare Interview

We prepare our students and graduates for their job interview until the students is confortable and at the level needed to be succesful.

Maria Rosario,

Overall this sounds great. My only advice would be to consider letting the students go through the mock interview a couple of times without stopping them in the middle, but rather giving them feedback after they are through. Then perhaps the third or fourth time, you could stop them as they go. Also, if you have a video camera, I've found this to be the very best tool to help make people aware of their body language and unconscious habits.

Whether recruiters come to campus to interview candidates or candiates have scheduled interviews at the employer's place, the Career Service staff and instructors help prepare candidates by doing mock interviews, reviewing their resumes and cover letters. When students do mock interviews,
their body language are observed as well. If their eyes linger to the ceiling or they look at their shoes when answering questions, their attention is called right that moment and not at the end of the mock interview so that they become conscious of their actions. We also check how prepared in answering basic questions and about their skills. They have to give specific examples. More often than not, students are asked to schedule a second mock interview with another instructor. A standard mock interview evaluation form may come in handy when going over the interview with the student.

Jany,

Do you conduct mock interviews with the students?
