Our facility will do an evaluation every end of the semester.

Succinct response, Alex. Please share some details about the continued training program? What's covered? By whom? How often? How do you measure effectiveness?

Cheryl, who's involved in the weekly retention meetings? Do all the participants come away with action items? If so, how are the results communicated?

Sounds like a major commitment for the program chair, Tess. At what point of the students enrollment does this happen? What are the results?

Christine, please share an example of improvements that have been implemented as a result of the survey results. Surveying is a popular practice but we haven't heard much about how effective they are.

Erin, do you invite graduates who have progressed at different rates in their career to speak to your students and re-enforce your points?

continued training along with student survey

We have weekly retention meetings. Our administration is very proactive and we also have end of module/course surveys to help the staff and faculty get a better understanding of what the expectations are and if they are satisfied.

The meetings are effective for faculty as it is a great means of communication as to who may be at risk.

By making sure students do a survey by the end of each course. This is how we assist student needs and help us determine their needs and ensure satisfaction in their learning.

Program chair will take the time to meet with students on a one-on-one basis to make sure that students are receiving the education they expected in order to keep them stay in the program and graduate.

Our students complete surveys on all classes / instructors at the end of each term. Those are reviewed by program directors and faculty, who then develop a plan for improvement if necessary. Also, our program directors have an open door policy. Students can feel free to drop in any time to discuss personal concerns.

We do our best to work with the students to make sure that they are having realistic expectations for themselves first. Most students require being challenged and others are already challenging themselves to achieve the educational success that they desire. However, in most cases they are not aware that some things are in the future and will be obtained over time. Not today or tomorrow. With this being said, it is important to make sure that the student has a clear timeline of steps needed to accomplish their goals.

Once this is confirmed with the student, we work with the student to make sure that we as a school is doing all we can ensure the students success. Since the Education field is constantly changing, we are always open to making sure we are adapting to the needs of the students that come threw our doors.

It is a 21 day period. Typically we have less than 15% opt out, mostly for personal reasons i.e. transportation, job, childcare.

Thank you, Allan. Please feel free to add some of the best practices that you have developed during your career.

How long is the trial period, Robert? How often do students opt out?

Michelle, what is covered in the mid-term evaluation meeting? Do you have a completed written survey from the student?

I fell this met my expectation. I have been in this industry for over 25 years and found it to be of value but also a reiteration of things that I have used, tried or heard over the years.I see this to be a very good module for ALL of my employees to take in developing a strategic retention plan.

We provide a one page document that describes the program selected, and anticipated outcomes. Additionally, our students have trial period that they can experience the program, however if they find the program is not for them they can opt out at no obligation or cost.

We have mid term evaluations where not only does the instructor meet with the students but at the end of the term the students fill out annonymous questionnaires on not only the subject matter but also the instructor so we can get honest feedback about the course materials and the way we present them. We also have a weekly review to try and figure out if we lost some students along the week regarding the lessons.

Simone, do these recommendations create any discussion? How much input to the instructors have in developing the fixes?
