keeping your students
i feel that the instructors additude has a lot to do with retension. if you are grumpy your students dont want to be there. if the instructor is happy and intergetic the students will have more fun and stay in class. it also helps to do what you say you are going to do,as in take roll, keep class control and so on.

when students see that you still have the passion for what you teach they want to be more involved especially when you show them you know the subject not just the powerpoint
The instructors definatly have a large part in retention. like it said they don't want to entertained, but certainly have fun what you are teaching and have the students get involved also
I agree with your statement. How we act in front of the class has a big impact on how the students will react. I am a very loud person in the classroom and for me it seems to continue on with the students. But if i'm having a bad day I also see the motivation level in some students seem to drop. I think being enthusiastic about what we do plays a big role in this.
I could not agree more. I've found that my excitement about the curriculum is contagious with my students. I periodically explain the importance and benefit of the material to re-excite them about their goal of finishing their education. I also believe that students want clear boundries and that they appreciate that "I do what I say I'm going to do". This helps to create an environment where the student feels safe in the learning process.
