retention
students retention is very easy to do if the instructor is dynamic ,simplify the daily topics and to keep students excited all the time .
this will come from experience and training in the field .
You make an interesting point, Cheryl, about losing the student after they graduate. A disgruntled graduate presents a whole different set of issues that can negatively impact the institution.
How do you identify these people and what happens when you do?
I agree with you 100% if we do not motivate our students in the classroom and capture their attention day one we will eventually loose them if not before completion of the program it will be when they become a graduate.
I myself believe that retention starts in the classroom. I agree that a dynamic instructor will have a higher retention rate. There are instances however when a student leaves after the first day. I believe that sometimes these students may be somewhat introverted and overwhelmed psychologically. That's why it is so important to hit a homerun the first day of class to somewhat ease the mind of these students. Like the unit discussed some students aren't going to continue but reaching as many students as we can with a genuine unbiased approach works wonders.
