I have been in this business only four months at this point, and have fortunately not had to explore our institutions intervention resources. I know that that we have the usual counselling, student services, and financial aid offices. Our greatest asset in my estimation is the attitude manifested by our staff. I have been very pleasantly surprised since I started at the effusive positive energy and genuine concern and friendliness of our staff. At the classroom end of things the particular specialist program in which I work has small class sizes which afford us the luxury of time to interact individually with students. In this setting it is not difficult to divine when a student is struggling personally or academically.

We are constantly updating our curriculumn and we try to keep our training aids to the most updated models

We allow students to participate in our education program board meetings and we are sure to let them know who all of the directors, like myself are so that if they do have questions or concerns they know who to direct them to. I also walk around the building and pop into our classrooms to not only introduce myself but to ask if anyone has any questions. I also have student services bring by any new or potential new students to me so that I can meet them and ask them their goals and what they want to do. It works well to get them into the program and to get to know them a bit better before they even become students. I always felt it was very reassuring when I was in school to get to know the people running the department I'd be graduating from and who was there to help me succeed
