Personal Encounter Time
Probably one of the biggest problems in our school is that we are face to face only 3 weeks at a time with a group of students. What I do is let out counselors know if I "feel" something isn't going properly with a student and hopefully they can give them more guidance.
Doug,
I agree that three weeks is a very short period of time to get to know our students, but we have other avenues to increase the face time with them. We need to all get involved more outside of the classroom. Campus events, Student Union, etc. will give us the critical piece of the puzzle - to see our students' demeanor outside of the potentially stressful academic environment.
I Agree With Doug Too... Cause We Are With Our Student 3 Weeks At A Time and By The Middle of The 2nd Week We Are Just Learning Their Names and They Are Going to Their Next Class
You are right about that Doug. It is hard to build a level of trust in 3 weeks.
