A Commitment to the Students

A Commitment to the Students

Academic Institutions generally offer wonderful resources and services for students. These include Student Services Offices, Student Learning Labs, Student centers, Student Teams and Clubs, Student Outreach groups, Student Financial Aid programs, Student tutoring, and more.

Most Academic Institutions spend a considerable amount of resources on creating a student-centered learning environment with mutual respect, flexibility, clarity, special programs, and a multitude of majors and learning options.

Similarly, students often have the choice to attend school traditional, online, or a combination of both – depending on the program. Many schools offer short term lengths and accelerated programs.

Schools have additional programs or flexibility for military learners, challenged learners, and special needs learners.

In short, the entire focus of most Academic Institutions is the learner and the learner success.

Kudos to your institution, Jennifer. This sounds like a very productive program. Who was responsible for pulling it together? Were there follow up activities identified?

We recently held an in-service training for facultyin which we discussed motivating students which is soimportant when it comes to retaining them. Relevancy, importance, interresting to them, etc are things that we need to do to keep them motivated and excited from the classroom side of retention. If that is going well it can really help overall.

i agree but it's not just to keep students focus on thier goals we have to some how show them how to keep life simple and sweet inorder to get that goal. students are more likely to succed when the see and hear where it is they are going in life instead of lookin at a picture that represents that dream. As from personal experience i believe that students will be better at what they do if somehow there emotionally involved

Having a commitment to the students is first priority. Having the student to focus on their goal and seeing them through makes a world of difference.
