Another interesting concept, leigh. Does each student make a presentation? How long are they? Do they also prepare a research paper on the topic? Sounds like a great way to get the students engaged.

I try to provide an environment where students can have input as to what transpires in class, each student turns in a topic that they are interested in that relates to the course work, as an assignment they research and help present that topic in class and i take a portion of my lectures and address those issues and offer my experiences relating to that particular issue

Delicate question, Kelly, and one that requires great tact. There are lines of authority/communication that must be observed. Perhaps the best action would be talking with the instructor's supervisor to make that person aware of the situation. They, in turn, could approach the issue as a professional development opportunity.
