Available Intervention?
As a part-time evening instructor, I am not aware of available intervention pathways available to my students other than my own counsel and that of the Education Director. Our school needs to have a faculty meeting and/or a handout listing the intervention steps available to our students and how to access then.
David, do you know if evening student retention is better at your current school that has more support services than at the first school?
Does anyone know what the accreditation standards are for services provided to evening students?
I started as a part time evening instructor and I feel your pain - we were often left to feel our way - luckily I am at a larger campus now and we have an evening school director who oversees various areas, including working with students and staff in intervention areas.
All too often part-time evening instructors are left to their own devices. It is imperative that you, and others in your position, have access to the same resources as your day-time counterparts.
Evening students also frequently feel like second class citizens because they don't have access to the same services and resources as day students.
How do the retention rates compare between day and evening cohorts?
