Staying on top of intervention

We need to intervene early. Time is of the essence and if you wait too long it makes the situation worse.

Linda, does your institution have a pre-admission study skills course that students can take?

Staying on top of the intervention is important. The student needs feel nurtured and supported. Our instructors are very good at intervening when a student needs academic help such as tutoring. A lot of our students have not been taught good study techniques. A lot of times once the student is shown how to study this is all the help they need.

I believe that not only do you need to intervene early but as the course says, you need to follow up frequently with the issue.

I agree that early intervention is the key to helping the student confront their problems before the situation gets worse. Sometimes they just want someone to listen and to hear that it is ok and that they are not the only one in that situation.
