Retention Practices

Team work plays the most important role in retention, no one person can control it alone but as a team working together we can keep retention high

Our campus uses a computer program that allows staff to view and document dicussions with students. This helps to keep everyone up to date on what is going on with each student. An example would be if an insturctor has had many discussions with a student they would document it, if the student then goes to talk to the program dirctor, student servies or the dean they can look up any past discussions and be up to date with the student's situation.

School as organization and instructor as an individual can provide a key supportive behavior for student retention.

Interacting with all of the schools players on a consistant basis and relating well to the students and letting them know that everyone here wants to help them be successful will not only be a key factor in reducing retention but it will also reassure them that they have the resources and the help to accomplish their goals.

Comments in SMART (Campus database) can be a valuable tracking tool for for the period of time a Student is at our Campus. Comments entered in a timely manner for both positive and negative situations can equip any Staff member in a current situation with a Student succeed in giving praise or defusing a concern. It also helps the Staff as that Student progresses to be aware of a possible situation that could occur or give kudos for past performance.

Yes they work better as a team, but you may have one that may sit back and watch, then i make sure they get involved with the group.

thats my schools motto you are employed by same employer as i am, although it is so true, to get it done as a team allways works better

we do an intervention survey every week to show education management where students are standing at that point in the course.it seems to work pretty well.

I always try to get my students to act as a team thinking that each student feels better a part of a team than alone although sometimes there is a loner who doesn't think he fits in thats the one I start with

it is important to continuousyly remind the student of the reason they chose this field.
