retension
Retension with students begins with a daily plan that can involve students with some sort of activity, rather than lecturing on something that you feel is important.alot of instructors are of the misconception that what they are talking about is interesting.
You're right about needing to vary presentation methods to accommodate different learning styles, Ian. What are some of the primary activities you use?
activities are essential! because of the many different styles of learning you need to mix up the class, but my main focus is interacting with them to help expand what the lesson is trying to teach
Mohammed, why do think lecture followed by lab improves retention?
I find that when we have lecture followed by lab activity to reinforce the subject material helps the students understanding a lot and hence retention. Also during the lab the instructor gets an opportunity to walk around and access each students comprehension of the subject and indentify which students need more help in class.
I hardily agree, so I try to interact the students with as much class/lab projects, this seems to hold their interest better and longer, also has improved their class grades with a better understanding of the subject. With this,it has led to a better retention in the class.
